At the heart of The Lyons League are Drs. Andrew and Joya Lyons—a power couple with purpose, passion, and divine direction. Though they lead the movement, they’ll be the first to tell you they don’t walk alone. God has been their guiding hand through every step—every challenge, breakthrough, and blessing.
Their love story began long before their careers took flight. They met as ambitious college juniors at a dental enrichment program—focused more on their future than on each other—until fate reunited them at Meharry Medical College. Somewhere between late-night study sessions and whispered prayers over textbooks, love quietly bloomed. By 2011, their union was sealed in marriage, rooted in faith and a shared calling to serve.
Before Meharry, Dr. Andrew earned honors at North Carolina Central University, while Dr. Joya graduated from Hampton University with the same hunger to heal. Their postdoctoral training at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit gave them the clinical strength to match their vision. Today, they’re proud members of the ADA, NC Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Their lives are anchored in scripture, especially Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, a reminder that their strength lies in partnership: “Two are better than one… For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.”
Together, they’ve built more than a thriving dental practice. They’ve built a legacy—raising two incredible children, Trace and Brielle, while mentoring the next wave of dentists hungry to rise above burnout and build businesses aligned with their values.

Joya Lyons, DDS
Raised just outside the city of Detroit, Dr. Joya Lyons brings both brilliance and heart to everything she touches. When she’s not transforming smiles at Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry, she’s pouring into the next generation of women through S.C.O.R.E., INC—a powerful mentorship program she co-leads with her sister and lifelong mentor, Dr. Janelle Davison, OD. Together, they empower high school girls with the academic support and financial tools they need to break into science, technology, engineering, and math. For Dr. Joya, it’s more than mentorship—it’s legacy in motion.

A proud son of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Drew Lyons has always carried the spirit of a visionary. Though he began his dental journey with precision and purpose, it was a deeper calling—divinely placed on his heart—that set him on the path of entrepreneurship. After completing residency and securing a stable future, he chose to step into the unknown, inviting his wife and trusted partner, Dr. Joya, to build something greater together.
In 2014, that leap of faith became Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry—now a thriving practice known for its excellence and rapid growth. Dr. Drew’s keen eye for dental office design has earned him recognition far beyond the operatory. Today, he’s a sought-after voice in the industry, often invited to speak and inspire others ready to elevate their space—and their impact.
